Christmas at DMCL

Welcome ........To My Christmas Tour.  I thought I would be real cleaver and show you pictures of Christmas 2008 and how different the same rooms look this year.  But for some reason they've been deleted from my camera and computer.  Oh Well.......So pictures of Christmas 2009..                                          First picture is faux mantel and then a close up

The next pictures is a bench used as a coffee table the Santa I got at Marshall's after passing him up the first time I saw him then went to two other Marshall (150 miles later) LOL I drove back to the first Marshall's and nearly teared up when he was still there.  What a girl won't do for the love of decorating.

The picture doesn't do him justice he about 17 inches tall. The next picture is some glass jars I just started to collect.  I love that look of glass jars.

The next picture is my old secretary

The next picture is the Christmas tree a collection of white and silver ornaments of about 30 years. I 've been doing the tree in Santa Clauses  for the past three years but missed my white collection hence the all white theme this year, I'am really into white so I decided to bring them all out.

This picture is all decorations from my Grandma. That lady was so ahead of her time. Just love this scene and how happy they make me feel when I look at it.

                     HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Welcome I am so glad you stopped Bye!  I've neglected my blog for sometime now so I've got to do a better job.  I owe it to my 15 followers LOL !!!!  I've been reading different blogs lately ...Do you ever get in a decorating blah????? I've been decorating the primitive/Colonial look for so many years that Iam growing tired of it.  Oh don't get me wrong I still Love it but I want to try something different.  I am Loving that vintage cottagey farmhouse look...

Love this look. The picture below is how I did my (fake) fireplace for fall.  I hung an old plastic  mirror  I painted. The plates are old from my mom.  The little frames (which are hard to tell in the pictures) of birds I got at the Goodwill and painted.  The silver plated ice bucket I got for free at a garage sale .
Go ahead and laugh at my geese I love these little guys I can't help it!!!! I got one at a garage sale years ago .  My daughter had stored somethings out in the garage and I was out rummaging for something and found one of them peeking out of a box and I decided I would take him in the house so he wouldn't get dirty.. I told her I was using him, well mom that's great but its not mine.  Hummmm........Where did he come from??  The other one I just got this summer at an antique store for $3.00  at that price I don't think their very poplar but I don't care I love him dearly.

Dry sink for fall.more Fall decorationsThat cutey bug below is my little grandbaby Livian. Shes One year old and Loved Thanksgiving today !Hope everyone has a safe and rewarding black Friday. I am going to a large craft show tomorrow and then this week-end I am going to start  putting up the Christmas decorations.  Until next time..............kim

Changes....coming

I was thinking about down sizing and perhaps moving from down my country lane. I've spent my entire adult life fixing up these old homes I live in and I think I am ready for a small home that doesn't require so much up keep.  So that being said I was looking on the internet to just get a feel to what was out there.  I ran across this house for sale by owner. (picture above) so I drove by and the picture doesn't do it justice.  It was so adorable that I nearly freaked out.  I drove bye really slow taking pictures, and then turned around and drove back by again.  wow I was really blowed away (I am hoping the owner doesn't think I a stocker)lol  but man it was so dog gone cute!  The ad said they were holding an open house on Sunday so I thought I'll go and just have a look.  When I get there I knock on the door (at the front door I "am in love with this home) and the home owner  answers, I ask if shes having an open house and she looks shocked, she said no you must have the wrong house I said is this 1142 she said  yes but were not selling our house.  I was so disappointed that it most of shown because she ask me if I want to come in and take a tour.  Why of course I do... Well friends let me tell you that if was even cuter inside.  OMG I nearly passed out because it was sooooooo adorable.  Colonial inspired  painted cupboards through out, colonial furniture, wall paper stenciling, hard wood floors, beams.  Her husband made all the old looking baskets. Well I am in love I am hoping they'll grab their toothbrush and clothes and let me have it lock stock and barrel. They had thought about selling but after looking around they decided  they would be better off  to just stay where they were.  Oh well I was disappointed but they were such a nice couple to have met that is was worth it.  I wish I had more pictures  of their home to show you but how rude would that have been.....he he he... Maybe we'll see it featured in Country Sampler??    Well until next time .............kim

My Most prized Possession

The love of my life:  She was born October 20Th.  2008. This little bundle at first sight  stole my heart so completly that even now 1 year later that moment in time still brings tears to my eyes.  Now when she sees me her eyes light up and she can't wait to come to me.  When she gives me a kiss and a hug I believe my heart stops beating for a split second because it can't hold any more joy and happiness.

Shes already a country girl ,because from the first day they brought her home they started reading to her and she loves to be read to.  Her favorite book is anything about farm animals .  If you tell her to go get a book she digs and digs  in all her books and always brings a farm animal book and likes to kiss the pony pictures .  She loves ponys .Went nuts for the fair ponys that she got to ride:Notice the cowgirl boots (gotta)  have those to ride a pony!  Saturday we took her to a farm market where she got to see animals and pick out her second pumpkin. She was named after my mom  Vivian who had passed away before she was born. her daddy thought up her name as   Livian Reign .............and yes she is our queen....Lol  until next time...............kim

Living Room

This picture is the living room. The grandfather clock was made by my dad in 1978 for a Christmas present for me. The cross is always hung by the front door in what ever house I live in. It was my grandpa's, my grandma had it made for him from wood from his child hood home that was being tore down. The five small square picture frames(which you can't tell) are of my parents wedding. The sofa welllllll....I like the look but its not that comfortable to lay down on if you know what I mean???LOL

This picture is of the fake fireplace.....my dear heart made it for me as a Christmas present so I would have a place to hang the big kids Christmas stockings...The large sampler on the left my grandma made and gave it to me.The cherry night stand was my grandmas and then my moms and then mine.

The dry sink I bought from a friends grandma she was down sizing and wanted to make sure that it got a good home cos that was one on the first pieces her and her husband had bought as a newly married couple. I love it.

This chest of drawers belonged to my grandmother I just love the look of it in my living room.

Most of the things in my living room are from my mom who received them from her mom. To me they are very precious

Until next Time kim
